Every design starts with a problem.
I’m a trained industrial designer, also known as a product designer, but welding wasn’t part of the plan. I started part-time, just to get my hands dirty, to learn the craft.
A year in, a co-worker casually mentioned he’d once set his hair on fire while welding. My reaction? No way. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized: this wasn’t just a freak accident. Protective gear wasn’t made for people like me, comfortable, functional, empowering gear didn’t exist.
I looked for a solution. I couldn’t find one. So I made one. I chose to create. That decision sparked SparkDefy.
